About the session
Michael will speak about his transition from photojournalism to working with NGOs, and the shift from creating documentation to inspiration through his photographic practice.
Meet Michael Amendolia
Photographer Michael Amendolia has more than 30 years’ experience making stories about restoring sight. It all started in 1992 in the courtyard of the Institute of Ophthalmology in Hanoi when on his first overseas assignment he captured the now iconic portrait of Fred Hollows with a young boy, Tran Van Giap.
Praise for Head On Spotlight:
"Great advice and information - it could have been 2 hours, easily.."
"It was great hearing Julian's backstory and how he was so open about his approach and techniques. Also great to see the photographs, obviously, but it was his narrative about them that made it special."
"Fiona's information was very practical and realistic. I particularly liked her advice to "call yourself a photographer". Hearing about her own journey was also very useful..."
