“Shadowman” is what’s made between photographing everything, or something else. It is this “stuff” in between that helps a photographer enter the “zone” where one commences to “roll” and where images arrive as if in a dream. In a sense it links the photographer to the purpose ahead and amuses and surprises. Surprise is photography’s great attribute. Everyone likes a surprise. Students of photography tend to look at and photograph their own shadows. It’s a right of passage to other, perhaps serious work; it’s the realizing of ones-self, in situ, and of great images to come.
