Jungmann understands landscape photography as an exploration of unknown space beyond any intimate and civilised experience on the border of modernity, technology and progress.
He sees the origin of the landscape, where perhaps the key to understanding life and relationships was once more easily accessible, is now lost and forgotten for good. The bond is broken, the senses weakened. Standing in the landscape in awe, overcome by inexplicable feelings, Jungmann attempts to explore the unexplored through ‘Ordo ab Chao’ (order and chaos).
Aleš Jungmann is a professional photographer from Liberec, Czech Republic. He began his studies as a documentary photographer before shifting his focus to landscape photography.
After a long creative break, in which he became a successful architectural photographer working for architectural studios, developers, magazines and books across the Czech Republic and beyond, he has returned to landscape photography. With renewed passion and influenced by his architectural work, Jungmann uses the same medium format camera technique with new energy.
