This work is a documentary series on Michael and Helen. Michael is 60 years old and lives with schizophrenia on the streets of Balmain, Sydney. Helen is also living with schizophrenia and is his occasional friend. She lives on the ground floor of a block of housing commission apartments in Balmain with Tony, whom she met at Rozelle Pyschiatric Hospital many years ago. Michael and Helen is an ongoing project documenting the lives of those less fortunate than ours.
It seeks to personalise their experience and remove the distance and barriers we sometimes create between “us” and ‘”them”.
