It has been suggested that the only thing we take photographs of is ourselves – that no matter what we point the camera at, the only thing we can hope to derive from the resulting image is that value or form or quality or idea that is relevant to us. No People proposes an exhibition of photographs that explore the capacity of the camera to absorb our anthropomorphic concern by taking as subject anything but an actual person with the express intent of conveying human value. While there will be no prescription placed on what that value is; be it intimate, public, domestic, organic, conceptual, or architectural, whether it refer to an actual person or evoke an abstract quality or emotion, we ask only that it take as its central or dominant subject anything but an actual human being and that it do so in order to express human value.
