In 2010, Alessandro Perini travelled to Africa and spent time photographing an orphanage called the Watoto Wema Centre in Kenya. This was the birth of the Bambini Without Borders Project.
The project now includes Alessandro’s recent visit to the Shanghai Healing Home for orphaned babies with cleft palates.
This exhibition is designed to create awareness of and an ongoing relationship with impoverished orphanages around the globe. In each situation Perini’s approach was subtly different, in particular with the choice of shooting with film.
This project is ongoing and expanding. Within the next few months Perini will be traveling to the Philippines where he will visit several local orphanages.
