This exhibition will present a series of photographs that examine the pervasiveness of human activity on the Australian coast and question commonly held romantic notions about the ocean –– a place characterised by voidness and unchanged since life first emerged on earth. The photographs intend to highlight the gap between the idealised notion and the reality, and draw attention to the potential impacts of our activities on the ocean and its coastlines.
Kurt Sorensen will present a series of photographs that depict the wreck of the Dunbar on the cliffs at the entrance to Port Jackson (near the Gap). Koji Makino will present a series of black and white seascapes made in Sydney beaches.
