Each year since 2010, Head On Photo Festival has showcased local and international photographers across the city, presenting free public programming to broad audiences: exhibitions, talks, workshops, and more.
All this is made possible thanks to our fantastic team of volunteers.

Year round
Each festival takes over a year to organise and we could use your help all year round. We are looking for anyone keen interested in office administration, marketing, business development, social media and graphic design.
These are hands-on roles and a great opportunity to work in a high-paced team environment.
Pre-festival
Installation of exhibitions start in the last week of October and continue into the first week of November. De-installation starts Monday 15 November.
These are hands-on roles and a great opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes peek at the curatorial process in action. Experience using basic tools is not a requirement but certainly a bonus.
Hosting
Bit of a social butterfly? Just love having chat? Join our team of festival hosts to mind galleries, collect visitor feedback, recommend exhibitions to visitors and answer any questions.
Festival Launch
If you like big crowds and a party atmosphere, then our Festival Launch is the place for you. We have a variety of opportunities; if you hold a current RSA, we’d love you to help with the bar and/or deliver drinks to our special guests. If you like chatting to people or have retail experience, we have roles to meet & greet, collect feedback, provide information and sell merchandise. We also have roles to generally assist the event producers and Head On team.
